Are copywriters going to be replaced by AI
AI nowadays is everywhere, doing everything it could and holds the potential to replace a human. But, can AI really replace a human?
We all know, AI is writing e-mails, blogs, ads, social media captions and what not.
At DZPL, there are various copy and content writers, and their constant fear– Is AI going to replace them? Not just at our Digital Marketing Agency, but anyone who is into copywriting, content marketing- knows the fear is real.
Let's find out whether AI holds enough credibility to be replaced by humans where not just information but also real-life case studies, tone which have human touch, real human emotions portrayed through blogs etc.
Why this matters
Whether you’re a brand, agency, or writer, this question affects how you plan, hire, and create content.
Because here’s what we’re seeing as we observe the content:
● Clients are presuming that AI can perform on the level of a copywriter
● Writers are questioning their value in an AI-driven world
● Brands are loving the speed of delivery, and the savings in costs of AI tools
● But still have no idea why some content works, and some flop
So, let’s take a look, and see if AI is in fact, replacing, or just changing the role of the contemporary copywriter.
What AI can do VS what it can't do
Let’s begin with what AI can do, we all are aware of AI’s ability to generate 1000 blogs in a minute, without getting tired without any breaks, doing work much faster than any human could ever do,
But,
While AI generates words, it can not understand the intent, emotion or context why a blog is being written– With what intent its being written or what emotion it wants to portray. It will not understand your customers' mindset.
Now,
Think about the last piece of writing that stayed with you:-
- Maybe a netflix script turned into a thriller show
- Maybe just a line from a book which made you stare at a wall for 5 minutes straight
AI can never do that, not now, maybe not ever.
AI can write as many words as many blogs but what it can not do is connect with the audience– it won’t communicate in a subtle way that resonates.
Is AI a threat to copywriters?
The answer to this question is not a direct yes or no, honestly it depends-
If you’re just creating content with shallow words and keywords just enough for the particular article or blog post to rank, it might tick all the boxes but if it's not exciting to read or doesn't connect– Then, Be aware, AI might take your job.
But if you're someone who's obsessed with words and creating wonders with it, if you’re someone who writes something that matters and not just keyword stuffed content.
Then, let's just say you’re safe.
AI might replace the ones which are average and have no value, but it will never be able to replace the ones who create meaning, know how to connect– and definitely know how to knock AI down.
Let’s take a look at the comparison below:-
As we can see, the same topics but one written by a human, while the other generated by AI.
The difference is clear: AI has written answer in a generic and robotic tone, while the other one which is written by a human, the post is written in a conversational way so that it will be easier for the audience to connect with it.
What could be the new role of copywriter?
Typing words is one part of the copywriter job title, but what we are experiencing now is a broader picture– it's about creating clarity and connection.
The value of a good writer has never been more obvious. Because AI can replicate structure, but it can not replicate strategy. It does not take a complicated thought and reframe it into a stop scrolling message. It cannot determine parts of user intent or curate content for different stages of the funnel. It can't tell a story that resonates with someone.
This is why human writers are irreplaceable—and why we hire and depend on them everyday.
AI is not replacing the role but increasing Expectations
We’ll admit it, AI is definitely reshaping how people are interacting with content nowadays. With new tools people have stopped putting effort in researching, Here’s why:-
- With new tools like Google’s AI overview and the new AI mode users have been used to getting answers directly at the top of search results– So now the hassle of going to 10 links has been cut short.
- It's not that they don't care, they just expect speed and their work done–thats what they care about the most. They skim, grab what they need and they’re gone.
- Fluffy, Keywords stuffed content wont cut anymore– Honestly, it shouldn’t be, that kind of content never really helped anyone anyway.
- Copywriters are challenged these days– Demand nowadays is for clarity, depth and value for real content.
Final thoughts
AI is faster, smarter, can mimic the tone, can truly do the job and is doing the job, but is it enough?
The answer is simple, no.
It still can’t feel, it still can’t connect with us the way we felt while reading Harry Potter for the first time, it can’t linger around our mind after finishing the whole book.
It can generate as much content as it can, in less time but it will never feel the same as a copywriter who writes with an intent, to feel and to connect.
